The purpose of this study was to investigate the demand for the change in effective operation of school dental health center by the elementary school parents. The parents of 4th grade students in 415 elementary schools nationwide where the school dental health center were available were selected from Sept. 1 to 30, 2014, to collect their self-survey. The analysis results of 1,408 copies for this survey were as follows. Awareness levels of school dental health center operations were shown to be 4.74 points for the importance on the dental health, 4.62 points for the needs of dental health educations, 4.46 points for the needs of dental health center, and 4.29 points for the improvement of brushing practice rate, with 3.67 points for overall awareness. The higher attitude for the operations of school dental health center were 4.49 points for brushing practice after meals, 4.36 points for regular dental examination, and 4.21 points for expansion of school dental health center with 4.11 points for overall attitude. To manage the school dental health center efficiently, 4 times a year was rated the most for both ‘proper period of dental health service provision’ and ‘proper frequency of school dental health education.’ Overall, the parents’ interest level was demonstrated to be very high in the operations of school dental health center to improve their children’s dental health. Hence, the national systemic and active policy supports should be provided to operate the school dental health center more efficiently.
