This present study paid attention to the factors that can have impact on the participation of members of a local community and carried out an empirical study on the effect of “collective efficacy”, which is a concept that can combine social capital and competence, upon participation in a local social organization. A variety of opinions should be heard and collected from residents and collective efficacy should bring out in a community for an organization of Saemanul Movement, which is one of the most representative local social organizations, to be born again as a resident-participation community activity. Under this prerequisite for community activity to be successful, this study examined the factors that have impact on participation of organizations related to Saemanul Movement and their collective efficacy; investigated the relation among the factors; and proposed a plan to promote the effectiveness of local community activity in a local social organization. To accomplish the objective of the study, a survey was carried out with the leaders of Saemanul Movement organizations and their members in Southen Chungcheong Province. The collected data was used to conduct factor analysis of participation and collective efficacy in structure equation modeling. In the modeling, attachment to local society and organizational atmosphere were set as independent variable; participation and satisfaction with evaluation as intervening variable; and collective efficacy as dependent variable.
