This study analyzed the influences of knowledge about dementia and self-efficacy in health management of the elderly on their behaviors for the promotion of dementia prevention with an attitude toward dementia as a mediating factor in order to obtain basic data for the enhancement of their behaviors for the promotion of dementia prevention. As a result of the analysis, it was found that their self-efficacy in health management affected their behavior for the promotion of dementia prevention, directly and at the same time, mediating their positive attitudes toward dementia while their knowledge about dementia affected their behavior for the promotion of dementia prevention, mediating their positive attitudes toward dementia. The results of this study suggest that efforts should be made for the elderly to have a positive attitude toward dementia and to have exact knowledge about dementia and confidence in health management in order to induce their behavior for the promotion of dementia prevention in the future. In other words, it was found that a clinical approach would be necessary, focused on their knowledge about dementia, self-efficacy in health management and a positive attitude toward dementia.
