부모와의 대화와 중학생의 학습동기 간의 관계에서 진로교육 활동참여 및 진로개발역량의 매개적 역할

A Study on Relation between Conversation with Parents and Learning Motivation: The Mediating Role of Career Educations and Career Development Competency

본 연구의 목적은 부모와의 대화가 청소년의 학습동기에 미치는 직접적인 영향과 진로교육 활동참여 및 진로개발역량을 통해 학습동기에 미치는 간접적인 영향을 검증하는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상은 중학교 3학년 8,917명이며, 한국직업능력개발원에서 제공하는 ‘초⋅중등 진로교육 현황조사’ 자료를 사용하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS 22.0 프로그램과 Mplus 7.0 프로그램을 이용하였으며, 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모와의 대화는 학습동기에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 부모와의 대화는 진로교육 활동참여와 진로개발역량을 통해 학습동기에 간접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 부모와의 대화는 청소년의 학습동기를 촉진하는 데에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 동시에, 부모와 대화를 많이 나눌수록 학교 내에서 청소년의 진로교육 활동참여가 증가하면서 진로개발역량이 높아졌고 이어 높은 수준의 학습동기로 이어졌다. 이러한 결과를 통해 본 연구는 부모와의 대화와 진로교육 활동체험 및 진로개발역량 모두 청소년의 학습동기에 중요한 영향을 미치는 요소임을 확인하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate a direct effect of conversation with parents on the learning motivation of adolescents and an indirect effect on learning motivation through career educations and career development competency. The subject of this study was 8,917 students in the 3rd grade of middle school from ‘survey on the status of career education in elementary and secondary schools’ provided by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training. The data analysis was conducted using the SPSS 22.0 program and Mplus 7.0 program, and the main findings are as follows. First, the conversation with parents had the direct effect on the learning motivation. Second, conversation with parents had the indirect effect on learning motivation through career educations and career development competency. In other words, conversation with parents promotes adolescents motivation for learning. Also, the more conversation with parents, the more the adolescent’ participated in career educations in schools, resulting in higher career development competency. And, it led to higher level of motivation for learning. From these results, this study confirmed that conversation with parents, career educations and career development competencies are all important factors that influence adolescents learning motivation.
