아동의 지역사회 참여활동이 능동적시민성에 미치는 효과

The Effect of Children s Participation in Community Activities on Active Citizenship

본 연구는 아동의 지역사회 참여활동이 능동적 시민성 함양에 미치는 효과성을 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2019년 10월부터 11월까지 전국 10개 시도 지역사회복지관에서 운영하는 지역사회 참여활동에 3개월 이상 참여한 경험이 있는 초⋅중⋅고등학생 122명과 참여경험이 없는 초⋅중⋅고등학생 149명을 비교집단으로 선정하여 독립표본 t-test, 요인분석, 상관관계분석, 다중회귀분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지역사회 참여활동에 참여한 학생은 참여하지 않은 학생에 비해 능동적 시민성이 높았다. 둘째, 지역사회 참여활동에 참여한 학생은 참여하지 않은 학생에 비해 능동적 시민성 하위변수인 사회개선의지, 대의민주주의 참여의식, 민주적 가치인식 수준도 높았다. 셋째, 능동적 시민성을 높여주는 참여요인은 성별, 성적, 경제수준, 활동기간이었다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 아동의 능동적 시민성을 함양할 수 있는 지역사회 참여활동방안에 대해 논의하였다.

This study aimed to examine the effect of children s participation in community activities on developing their active citizenship. To this end, subjects for comparison groups were selected, including 122 elementary, middle and high school students who participated in community activities run by local community welfare centers in ten cities and provinces for three months or more from October to November 2019 and 149 students without any experience of participation. Various analysis methods such as independent sample t-test, factor analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were adopted. The analysis results are as follows. First, the students who participated in the program of community activities showed a higher level of active citizenship than the students who did not participate in the program. Second, the students who participated in the program of community activities had a higher level in the sub-factors of active citizenship, including willingness for social improvement, awareness to participate in representative democracy and perception for democratic value, than the students who did not participate in the program. Third, participation factors for enhancing active citizenship were found to be gender, grade, economic status and duration of activities. Based on these results, measures for participation in community activities to develop children s active citizenship were discussed.
