Performance Task Types of Understanding by Design for Elementary School

이 연구의 목적은 이해중심설계를 위한 수행과제의 성격이 어떠해야 하는지를 규명하고 구체적인 수행과제의 사례를 탐구하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 수행과제의 여섯 가지 요소에 관해 문헌 연구를 통해 이론적 탐색을 실시했으며, 실행연구 방법을 활용하여 4명의 초등교사가 단원의 설계, 실행, 개선을 수행하였다. 연구는 2019년 3월부터 2020년 3월까지 4명의 연구 참여자를 선정해서 실시하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 도출된 수행과제의 여섯 가지 요소에 대한 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 설명은 학습자가 현상이나 자료를 파악하여 그 속에 포함된 개념이나 개념의 관계성을 파악하는 것이다. 둘째, 해석은 사실이나 경험을 학습자의 맥락과 연결 지어 주관적인 의미를 부여하고 드러내는 것이다. 셋째, 적용은 구체적인 상황에서 학습자가 지식을 활용하는 것이며, 이를 위해 상황에 대한 파악이 선행되어야 한다. 넷째, 관점은 학습자가 자료나 현상에 비판적인 시각으로 평가를 하는 것이며 여기에는 준거나 기준을 포함해야 한다. 다섯째, 공감은 타인의 내면이나 세계관에 감정을 이입하여 그것을 이해하는 것이다. 여섯째, 자기 지식은 학습자의 사고와 행위를 반성하여 자신의 내면을 이해하는 것이다.

The objective of this study is to explain the nature of performance tasks for understanding by design and explore the cases of detailed performance tasks. for this, theoretical study was conducted through the literature review on the six facets of performance tasks, and using the methods of action research, 4 elementary school teachers performed the design, implementation, and improvement of unit. The characteristics of six facets of performance tasks that were deduced from this process are as follows. First, explanation is determining the implicit notion or the relevance of notion by studying the phenomenon or data. Second, interpretation is assigning and revealing the subject meaning to fact or experience in relation to learner’s context. Third, application is where learner utilizes knowledge in a specific situation, which needs to be precedes by the understanding of situation. Fourth, perspective is where learner assesses data or phenomenon with a critical view, which needs to include standards or criteria. Fifth, empathy is understanding other’s inside or view of the world by being absorbed in emotions. Sixth, self-knowledge is understanding one’s inside by reflecting learner’s thinking and behavior.
