The Current State and Reform Policies of Lao s Education

Laos has not been well known to the outside world due to socialism and closed policy for long time. Laos is classified one of the least developed countries by United Nations(UN). Due toy few natural resources and the insufficiency of capital and infrastructure in Laos, it is very necessary to develop human resources and to supply it to the Lao industry/society through effective education system. This article is to review the current situation and government policy for Lao education, it tries to make search for evaluation of the internal efficiency and also to find out the tasks to improve the education system. In a second section, this examines the relation of the social change and education. In a third section, it introduces the general overview and current infrastructure about Lao education system. Finally it looks into the trend of Lao education reforms and tasks for the future of education and it finishes to remark some significance and conclusions.
