The purpose of this comparative study is to analyze the differences and the commonness of the elected officers personal characteristics at the level of local government from the first local election to the third local election period. For the analysis, the elected officers of local governments(232) such as city, county and ward are categorized into the third-term elected officers(41) and just one time elected officers(37) by leadership continuity, that is, success or failure of reelection. Then, the differences and the commonness of the elected officers characteristics in terms of age, occupational career, educational background and political party are explored between the third-term elected officers group and the one time elected officers group comparatively and descriptively. In case of age and academic career of the elected officers, there is a similar pattern between two groups. However, in the light of career type of the elected officers(public administrator type, politician type, businessman type and etc.), people in the public administrator type is largest part around 50 percent and followed by those in the politician type in the group of the third-term officers. In contrast, the ratio of the politician career type is the highest around 50 percent and the ratio of public administrator type is followed in the group of one time elected officers at the second and third local election period. This comparative analysis on the differences and commonness of the elected officers characteristics at local government by leadership continuity has just employed descriptive methodology. It may be necessary to review more theoretical background and to get more substantial dataset for further study.
