A Study on the Recognition of Current Level and Application Values of Rural Amenity in Pyeongchang County

The purpose of this study is to search for policy implications to promote amenity-led development through analyzing the recognition of current status and application values of rural amenity in Pyeongchang. Literature review and questionnaire survey analysis were conducted in this study for the purpose. Results of this research can be summarized as follows. First, it was revealed that Pyeongchang has many amenity resources such as natural and environmental resources, historial and cultural resources, and social and economic resources. Second, it was revealed that Residents in Pyeongchang have various needs for amenity application values such as application values for conservation and restoration, planned utilization, and industrial utilization of rural amenity resources. Especially it was revealed that they have strong needs that their various amenity resources are applicated within the framework of promoting economic development as well as betterment of living conditions. Finally, several policy implications as a result of this study are as follows: (1) the inducement of comprehensive regional development policies centered on amenity, (2) the planning of integrative policies between betterment of living conditions and regional economic development , and (3) the building of incentive system for participations of residents and experts inside and outside of the region.
