《玩月会盟宴》所见的韩国传统家庭教育

Korean Traditional Home Education in WanWolHoeMaengYon

WanWolHoeMaengYon was written between the 18th and 19th century. It covers not only the royal families, but also lower class people, so we can understand the contemporary society and the culture in general. The purpose of this paper is to review the Korean traditional educational system at home of the extended family in the Choosun(朝鲜) Dynasity. It is guessed that WanWolHoeMaengYon was written during the King Heon-jong(宪宗) period in 1840 by scribes. The book composed of 8 types in series is believed strongly that Kyem-je An(安兼济) s mother Mrs. Lee(李) from Lee family wrote. A total of 180 books explained about the characters of Jeong s family , Chang s family, Sho s family, and Lee s family of the Ming(明) Dynasty in China. The novel starts at the time of Jeong-han s child s marriage pledge at his birthday party at the Wanweol(琓月) pavilion. Based upon confucianism, it emphasizes the filial piety and the royal ship toward the king. It was used as textbooks for the children of the royal families. The main character, IN-sung Jeong showed the filial piety and the royal ship toward the king and the betrayal of his step mother Ko-wan Sho and In-jung Jeong. The male educational system at home in WanWolHoeMaengYon was emphasized as follows: 1) Practicing the filial piety and the royal ship toward the king and getting a high position in the court for his own family name as well as nation. 2) Worshiping confucianism but forbidding buddhism and trying not to depend on the interpretation of dreams and face readings. 3) They may prophesy the future such as wealth and fame, and eternal life through star positions. Also they can figure out the future by ZhouYi(周易). The male educational system at home in WanWolHoeMaengYon was emphasized as follows: 1) Bearing a child with luck dream and keeping the family lineage, making the family flourish by showing the filial piety at the ancestral ritual. 2) Showing and obeying the filial piety to the parents and the parents-in law. 3) Obeying her husband as a good wife and a wise mother and not showing jealousy to a concubine. 4) Practicing weaving clothes. 5) Memorizing ZhouYi, LiJi(礼記), ShiJing(詩經), LieNuZhuan(列女傳), NuXun(女訓), NuJie(女戒), and XiaoJing.(孝經) 6) Worshiping confucianism but forbidding buddhism but keeping folk beliefs. 7) Practicing helping the husband and wife for good ends; obeying her parents, husband, and son; and showing virtue as a lady. Even though Mrs. Seo-tae regretted her fate for not being born as a man, she got devotion from her family. A man who couldn t get a virtuous wife used to lament for his bad luck.
