In historical movies, makeup delivers visual pleasure by representing facts and reflecting trends through hairstyles, ornaments, and mustache and beard attachments. Since the film ‘Masquerade’ is a fictional story based on some historical facts, it focuses on new makeup styles in addition to historical ones. In particular, makeup and mustache & beard attachments for King Gwanghae and Haseon, and makeup & ornamentation for the queen are meaningful in that they attempted to break the makeup stereotype, which generally refers to the selection of either makeup based on historical research or distortion. It is anticipated that there should be further studies on film makeup as it becomes a more complex genre.
