This study attempted to investigate the influence of the change process, decisional balance, and self-efficacy in nail-biting improvement behavior. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed among men and women in their 10-40s suffering who said they had experience with nail-biting. A total of 256 copies were analyzed, and the results found the following: When analyzed by stage, the ‘planning stage’ designed to mediate nail-biting was the highest while the stage to continue the status of non-nail biting was the lowest. In addition, it was confirmed that change process, decision-making balance and self-efficacy are influential factors during the transition to the positive stage. Even though it is easy to set a plan to stop nail biting, it still remains one of the toughest habits to break. Therefore, sufficient time should be given to get over such bad habit. In this sense, this study attempted to establish the ground to develop a nail biting intervention program, using a trans-theoretical model.
