The Influence of Supervisor’s Communication Styles on Employees’ Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Beauty Service Companies: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Organizational Trust and Superior Trust

  • 152

This study attempted to investigate the influence of a supervisor’s communication styles on employees’ organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) among aesthetic service providers. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed from June 15 to July 5, 2020. Among the total of 320 questionnaires distributed, 300 copies, excluding 20 poorly answered ones, were used for the final analysis, and the results found the following: ‘Communication style,’ ‘flexible style,’ ‘consideration for others’ and ‘self-assertive style’ had a significant influence on ‘trust’ and ‘organizational trust.’ Specifically, ‘self-assertive style’ had a negative effect on ‘trust.’ ‘Supervisor trust’ and ‘organizational trust’ had a statistically significant effect on the OCB, and ‘organizational trust’ revealed a relatively strong influence. In terms of the mediating effects of trust between OCB and communication styles, trust mediation was confirmed. As an in-depth study on organizational communication in the aesthetic service industry, this study confirmed that communication is the element that brings employees’ voluntary OCB. It is anticipated that the study results would be used as data which can be referred to in organizational management for aesthetic industry workers with communication as a starting point to evolve personnel and organizational theory.
