The current Korean Civil Procedure Act was comprehensively amended in January 2002, taking into effect since July 1, 2002. Along with the Korean Civil Procedure Act, the Korean Civil Enforcement Act was enacted in 2002, being separated from the Korean Civil Procedure Act. The two Acts then have revised several times. The purpose of this article is to investigate how the complete revisions of the Act and the Asian currency crisis of 1997 have influenced civil cases. Among the civil cases between 2000 and 2009, in particular, the study explores ratio, annual change, organization and appeal of civil cases compared to total cases.
