국내 데이트폭력 사건은 매년 증가하고 있으며, 경찰 조직은 사건 이후 피해자 보호조치와 관련하여 다수의 내부 규정을 제정하고 있다. 또한, 피해자가 보복 범죄를 당하거나 2차 피해를 입게 될 경우 담당 수사관에 대해 더 중하게 관리 소홀 책임을 묻는 경우가 많아지고 있다. 하지만 국내 경찰관의 데이트폭력에 대한 태도에 관심을 가진 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 이 연구는 국내 경찰관의 데이트폭력에 대한 현 실태를 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 향후 경찰 조직이 데이트폭력에 대해 더 세밀한 내부 대응 규정을 만들 수 있기를 기대해 본다. 본 연구 결과, 국내 경찰관은 데이트폭력 사건을 두 개인 간의 사적인 문제라고 보는 경향이 강했으며, 사건 처리에 드는 노력이나 시간보다 성과가 적다고 보고하였다. 이 연구의 한계점과 후속 연구에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.
Since 2017 in South Korea, police has established a number of internal regulations regarding victim protection after the incidents. The police officers in charge is increasingly asked to take more responsibility for management, especially in the case of that a victim is subjected to a retaliatory crime or the secondary damage. Consequently, there is no lack of emphasis on the attitude of police officers in investigating dating violence. Through this study, we will understand the current status of polices’ attitudes about dating violence. As a result, police officers who participated in the study had a strong tendency to consider dating violence as a private matter. Implications for future research and the limitation of this study are discussed.
