본 연구는 청일전쟁의 단서가 된 일본군의 조선 왕궁(경복궁) 점령에 대한 대응을중심으로 분석한 것이다. 주요 내용은 첫째, 일본군의 왕궁 점령으로 인한 피란 상황과그 소식의 지방 전파, 각 지역별 반향과 혼돈(Chaos) 등에 관한 것이다. 둘째는왕실, 정부 관료, 재야 유생과 의병, 동학농민군 등 각 계층별 인식론과 대응 양태이다.

This study focused on the response of the Japanese military to the occupation of the Joseon royal palace, which served as a clue to the Sino-Japanese War. The main content is, first, about the situation of exhaustion caused by the occupation of the royal palace by the Japanese army, the spread of the news to the provinces, and the reverberation and chaos of each region. The second is the perception and response patterns of each class, including the royal family, government officials, volunteer soldiers, and the Donghak Peasant Army.
