The Importance and Possibility of Community-centered Development in Underdeveloped Areas: Tourists’ Expectations Regarding Tourist Site Development and Attitudes Toward Local Tourism Content Development in Underdeveloped Areas

이 논문은 지역공동체 중심의 낙후지역 개발 과정에서 고려해야 하는 윤리적 쟁점을 살펴보기위한 탐색적 연구로 진행되었다. 다양한 지역공동체 중심의 지역개발 방법들 중에서 본 연구에서살펴본 지역관광콘텐츠 개발은 지역공동체 중심의 지역개발 방안 도출을 위한 다양한 시사점을제공한다. 본 연구에서는 지역공동체 중심의 관광개발 과정에서의 사회갈등적 쟁점을 살펴보고 실제 낙후지역 관광지 방문경험 여부와 낙후지역 관광지 개발에 대한 기대, 그리고 낙후지역 관광콘텐츠개발에 대한 태도 간 관계를 고찰했다. 분석결과 낙후지역 관광지 방문경험이라는 개인적 체험이낙후지역 관광지 개발에 대한 기대로 이어져 낙후지역 관광콘텐츠 개발에 대한 태도로 발전되는과정이 경험적으로 나타났다. 이는 지역관광자원을 활용한 지역공동체 중심 낙후지역 개발의 필요성을 추론할 수 있는 탐색적 연구로서의 의미를 갖게 한다. 본 연구를 통해 낙후지역 내 다양한 관광자원이 해당 지역을 방문한 관광객들에게 관광매력물로서 충분히 작용하고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 낙후지역으로의 일방적인 외부 자본 유입에서 벗어나지역공동체 중심의 낙후지역 개발을 통해 지역주민에로의 자본 재분배에서 발생하는 사회갈등문제를 고려할 수 있는 가능성을 제시해준다.

This study explored ethical issues in local community-centered development in underdeveloped areas and identified implications for local community-centered development strategies through the development of local tourism content. It investigated the relationships among respondents’ experiences, expectations, and attitudes regarding local tourism development when visiting tourist sites in underdeveloped areas, focusing on social conflict in local community-centered tourism development. The results showed that respondents’ experiences affected their expectations regarding tourist site development, in turn affecting their attitudes toward local tourism content development. This study is thus meaningful as an exploratory study, confirming the importance of community-centered development of local tourism resources. The study also found that tourism resources in underdeveloped areas are acting enough as tourist attractions and suggests that local community-centered development can help resolve social conflict that may occur in the capital redistribution for local residents, rather than focusing on a unilateral external capital inflow.
