The Influence of Migrant Women s Intercultural Sensitivity on Divorce Intention: Mediating Effects of Marital Communication

본 연구의 목적은 결혼이주여성의 문화간 감수성이 이혼의사에 미치는 영향을알아보고, 두 변인 간의 관계에서 부부의사소통의 매개효과를 확인하는데 있다. 이를 위해 한국 남성과 결혼하여 한국에 거주하는 결혼이주여성 313명을 대상으로설문지조사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 결혼이주여성의 문화간감수성이 부부의사소통을 매개로 하여 이혼의사에 미치는 변인들 간의 구조관계를검증하기 위해 분석되었고, 분석결과 문화간 감수성은 이혼의사에 직접적으로 영향을 미치기 보다 부부의사소통을 매개로 간접적으로 영향을 미치고 있음이 확인되었다. 즉, 부부의사소통은 결혼이주여성의 문화간 감수성은 이혼의사를 완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 결혼이주여성의 이혼의사를 경감하는 다양한 문화간 감수성 교육 실제와 부부의사소통의 지원방안에 관한 시사점과후속연구를 제안하고자 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of immigrant women s inter-cultural sensitivity on divorce intentions, and to confirm the mediating effect of marital communication in the relationship between the two variables. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 313 migrant women residing in Korea after marrying Korean men, and data were collected. The collected data were analyzed to verify the structural relationship between the variables that the inter-cultural sensibilities of immigrant women influenced the intention to divorce through marital communication. As a result of the analysis, the intercultural sensibilities did not directly affect the intention to divorce It was confirmed that the influence is indirectly through communication. In other words, marital communication completely mediates the inter-cultural sensitivity and divorce intention of migrant women. Based on the results of this study, various inter-cultural sensibility education practices to reduce the intention of divorce of immigrant women, implications for support plans for marital communication, and suggestions for follow-up studies were discussed.
