영어능력 수준에 따른 대학교양영어 비대면비실시간수업에 대한 인식

Students Perception on Online Asynchronous College English Course

목적 본 연구에서는 비대면비실시간 교양영어 수업에 대한 학습효과, 학습효과를 높이기 위한 요인, 학습유형 및 패턴, 수업진행방식에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 경기도 소재 대학생 123명을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였고 영어능력 수준별 집단간 응답차이를 비교 분석하였다. 결과 학생들은 대면수업을 가장 효과적이라고 생각하나, 비대면비실시간 수업이 비대면실시간 수업보다는 효과적이라고 생각하고 있다. 또한 비대면비실시간 영어수업은 언어학습 영역 중에서 듣기 영역 학습에 가장 효율적이라고 생각하며 이어서 읽기 영역 학습을 쓰기와 말하기보다는 더 효율적으로 생각하였다. 학교, 교수자, 학습자 요인 중에서는 학습자 요인을 가장 중요하게 보고 있으며, 교수자의 진행방식과 강의의 질의 중요성을 확인시켰다. 더불어, 비대면비실시간의 학습유형 및 패턴, 수업 진행에 관련한 인식을 조사하였으며 여러 문항에서 영어능력 수준에 의한 비대면비실시간 수업 및 학습유형 등에 대한 차이가 있다. 학생들은 현재와 유사한 상황에서 비대면실시간보다는 비대면비실시간을 더 선호하고 있으며 코로나19 이후의 미래에도 대면/비대면 혼합수업, 비대면비실시간 수업에 대해 상당수가 긍정적인 반응을 보이고 있다. 결론 본 연구의 결과는 비대면비실시가 수업 개설시 교양영어 수업 교과과정 계획 및 수업 설계에 고려할 수 있는 시사점이 있다.

Objectives The study aims to learn students perception on online asynchronous class in college English courses, according to their level of English language ability. Methods The main tool for the study is a questionnaire of 20 questions. An evaluation test is performed to decide their level of English language ability. Results Online asynchronous class is considered more effective than online synchronous class, and it brings self-directed educational ability and achievement in learning. It is more adequate for learning listening and reading than other language skills in learning English. Among the factors that influence learning, learner is regarded the most important, followed by instructor-related ones and school s systematic supports. Conclusions Difference in their English language ability affects different perception in the result of a few survey questions. Their preference on class type in the following semester and in the future, as well as the other results of the study, should be taken into account in online class lesson planning.
