한반도 선사시대의 제정분리(祭政分離) 양상에 대한 일 고찰

A Study on the Separation of Ritual and Political leaders in the Prehistoric periods: focused on the Midwest Region of the Korean Peninsula

본고에서는 한반도 중서부 지역(서울ㆍ인천ㆍ경기지역)의 기존 연구 성과들을 중심으로 신석기시대, 청동기시대, 철기시대 전기에 해당하는 주거 유적들과 매장 유적들의 위치 확인과 유적들의 형태, 규모 및 출토 유물들에 대한 검토를 통하여 제정일치(祭政一致)에서 제정분리(祭政分離)로의 양상에 대해 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 그 결과, 청동기시대가 되면, 전ㆍ중ㆍ후기에 걸쳐 주거 유적의 수와 규모가 증가하는 양상이 보여지는데, 전기에 해당하는 주거 유적들은 대체로 축조가 용이한 평탄한 구릉 정상부 능선에 입지하는 경우가 많았다. 중기의 특징으로는 청동기시대의 대표적인 매장 유적인 지석묘 상석의 규모가 가장 컸다가 이후 점차 감소하는 경향이 관찰되는데, 이 시기에 구릉 정상부에 환호 유적이 등장한다. 환호 유적은 그 규모와 입지면에서 방어의 기능보다는 의례와 관련되었을 것으로 추정되며 제정분리(祭政分離)의 양상으로 해석될 가능성이 있다고 사료된다.

In this paper, focusing on the existing research results in the mid-western Korean peninsula (Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province), the settlements and burial sites corresponding to the Neolithic Age, Bronze Age, and Former Iron Age were reviewed in order to investigate the process of change from unification to a separation of ritual and political leaders. As a result, it was possible to infer that their type of livelihood was changing from an advantageous area for fishing to farming through the location of settlements in the Neolithic period. In the Bronze Age, the number and scale of settlements increased throughout the early, middle and late periods. Settlements related to the early period were usually located on the plain ridge of the hills where building construction was relatively easy. As a characteristic of the middle period, the size of the capstone of dolmen, a representative burial monument in the Korean Bronze Age, was observed to be the largest and then gradually decreased. At this time, the enclosure site appears at the top of the hill. It is assumed that the enclosure sites were related to rituals rather than functions of defense in terms of their size and location. This may be interpreted as an evidence of the separation of ritual and political leaders based on the records of Sodo in the Three Han Period.
