Basic Research for the Development of Coastal Resort: Focusing on the Geological Assessment of Cordova, Philippines

This study aims to provide effective information delivery to domestic resort & hotel companies that want to enter the Philippines, focusing on actual cases of resort development projects being implemented in the Municipality of Cordova, Philippines. For the research, a preliminary literature study in Korea and a field survey were conducted by selecting a local survey company in the Philippines. The field survey centered on the Municipality of Cordova in the southern part of Cebu, Philippines, where the coastal resort is expected to be developed, and the area’s geology, topography, earthquake, flood, and climate were the focus of the field survey. This study presents a method for Korean resort & hotel companies to enter the Philippines’ tourism industry by introducing the FLAgT(Forest Land use Agreement for Tourism) that develops the Philippines forest area for tourism purposes, where information is rare and inactive in Korea. In addition, it provides basic geological data of the coastal area of Cordova, Philippines, which is the target site for the resort development, through geological evaluation of a Korean company that is currently developing Condotel through FLAgT.
