Talkshow, Ritual as a Cultural Practice

본고는 텔레비전 치유형 토크쇼를 탈진상태에 있는 개인들이 고백→치유→영적 각성의 과정을 거쳐 재사회화되는 과정으로 보았다. 1) ‘공개고백과 미디어 공공가족’에서는 공개고백을 사적 개인의 공적 진술로 인식한다. 공개고백이 진실한 자아를 찾아가는 길이 아니라, 오히려 고유한 자아를 포기하고 사회적 자아를 재구성하는 과정으로 본다. 2) ‘매력자본과 탈시사적 힐링’에서는 토크쇼가 사회에 대한 비판보다 개인의 자기계발을 강조하는 한계를 분석한다. 텔레비전 고백이 이벤트적 성격을 띠면서, 현실을 외면하여 마치 문제가 해결된 듯한 느낌을 주는 탈시사적 힐링을 고찰한다. 3) ‘상징적 제의와 1시간짜리 임시낙원’에서는 전문가의 처방이 유사종교적 제의의 분위기를 만듦을 확인한다. 토크쇼가 목회자적인 고양된 수사로 영적 판타지를 주입하는 상징적 제의임을 비판한다.

This paper recognized the healing talkshow flooding in modern society as a septic tank of pain produced by neoliberalism. The talkshow is seen as a process of neoliberal deception in which individuals in exhaustion are resocialized through the process of confession→healing→spiritual awakening. 1) In ‘public confession and media public family’, the confession disclosed in the television media is recognized as a public statement of a private individual. We confirm that public confession in the media is not a way to find the true self, but rather a process of giving up the intrinsic self and reconstructing the social self. 2) In ‘charming capital and post-historical healing’, rather than a cold-hearted analysis of harsh social structures, we take this as an individual s problem and analyze the aspect that emphasizes the logic of self-development. As the TV confession takes on the character of an event that is staged on the stage, it examines the post-historical healing that gives a feeling as if the problem has been solved by extinguishing the current affairs of the problem itself. 3) In ‘symbolic ritual and one hour temporary Paradise’, you can see that the method of healing suggested by experts focuses on creating an atmosphere of ritual similar to religion. We confirm that the talkshow becomes a ritual of symbolic rituals that inject spiritual fantasy with a pastoral uplifting rhetoric.
