철새 중간기착지로 이용되는 도서지방에서의 효율적인 조사지 선택

Census Site Selection on an Island Used as a Stopover Site for Migratory Birds

한반도 서남해안의 여러 도서지역은 동아시아-대양주 이동경로를 지나는 철새들의 중간기착지로 이용된다. 본 연구는 도서지역 조류 조사의 효율성을 높이기 위해 다도해해상국립공원 내 흑산도 13개 지역을 선정, 2013년 1월부터 12월까지 월 1회 센서스를 실시하여 월별 및 지역별 도래현황을 분석하였다. 조사 결과 관찰된 조류는 총 130종 7,099개체였다. 우점종은 직박구리 Microscelis amaurotis(13.0%), 동박새 Zosterops japonicus(8.6%), 흰배지빠귀 Turdus pallidus(7.9%), 괭이갈매기 Larus crassirostris(6.9%), 왜가리 Ardea cinerea(5.3%) 순으로 나타났다. 월별 도래현황을 보면 나그네새의 이동시기인 봄(4월) · 가을(10월)에 높은 종수를 기록하였고, 주로 번식조류가 관찰되는 여름철(7월)에는 낮은 종수를 기록하였다. 종 및 개체수를 반영한 종다양도(H )와 종풍부도(R ) 지수 또한 봄 · 가을에 높게, 여름에 낮게 기록되었다. 환경부, 문화재청, CITES, IUCN 등이 지정한 멸종위기 및 법정보호종은 총 23종 165개체가 관찰되었다. 지역별로 습지가 분포한 진리와 배낭기미 지역이 타 지역에 비해서 높은 종수 및 개체수와 군집분석 지수값을 기록하였으며, 가장 많은 법정보호종이 관찰되었다. 본 조사 결과 도서지역의 습지가 철새들의 서식지 질적 향상에 기여하는 것으로 판단되므로 향후 섬 지역 조류 조사 시 내부 습지 중심의 조사지역 선정이 요구되며, 우리나라 서남해안 도서지역의 정기적이고 지속적인 연구와 보전 활동이 필요하다.

Islands located in the southwestern sea of Korea are used as stopover sites for migratory birds which across East Asian-Australasian Flyway. We monthly monitored 13 sites in Heuksan-do (Is.), which belongs to Dadohaehaesang National Park, to aim to compare the distribution of birds and increase monitoring efficiency on a stopover island. A total of 7,099 birds in 130 species were recorded. The Brown-eared Bulbul Microscelis amaurotis (13.0%) was the most abundant species, followed by the Japanese White-eye Zosterops japonicus (8.6%), the Pale Thrush Turdus pallidus (7.9%), the Black-tailed Gull Larus crassirostris (6.9%), and the Grey Heron Ardea cinerea (5.3%). Biodiversity (H ) and Richness (R ) indices were higher in spring and autumn migration season, whereas the indices were lower in summer. A total of 23 species which are designated as threatened or endangered species were recorded in the study sites. In Jin-ri and Baenanggimi sites those having wetlands, the number of species, individuals, endangered or threatened species, and the biological indices were higher than in other sites. In conclusion, wetlands on the southwestern islands of Korea may serve an important role for stopover of migratory birds, therefore, intensive studies and conservation efforts are needed in these area.
