An Exploratory Study on Distributional Competitiveness of Traditional Markets in Incheon Metropolitan Area
The recent traditional markets, with the significant reduction of their numbers and sales volume nationwide, are facing overall crisis and difficulties. Government is rendering continuous support to revitalize the traditional markets, trying to show off their unique characteristics. Difficulties of traditional markets come from several external and internal factors. In this study, the most basic situation of traditional markets in Incheon Metropolitan City is to be reviewed. And also, the distribution competitiveness of the traditional markets comparative by region, which can be evaluated by means of Market Expansion Potential(MEP), Index of Retail Saturation(IRS), etc, will be analyzed. As far as they are accessible, the data such as population, household numbers, the borough area and floor space of stores will be brought into analysis as basic factors for assessment.
