Drawing Analysis on Interpersonal Problem Solving Group Art Therapy Program for Adolescents with Mental Retardation

This study investigated effects of interpersonal problem solving group art therapy for adolescents with mental retardation. The subjects were 8 adolescents with mental retardation in an experimental group & 8 adolescents in a control group. Group art therapy had been conducted once a week from January through April, 2012. There were 16 sessions and each session lasted 60 minutes. To verify the its effect, the changes of drawing(art activity, works, & contents) were observed and the inventory on interpersonal problem solving were used. With the inventory, pre-test, post-test, & follow-up-test were executed and ANOVA with repeated measures was conducted. The results were; first, There were positive changes of drawing. Second, the score of interpersonal problem solving in the post-test was higher than in pre-test.
