Cold Chain Management in Pharmaceutical Industry

This paper is to review cold chain management, especially in pharmaceutical industry. It analyzes characteristics of cold chain in pharmaceutical industry and importance of technology within the chain. Over the years, as life expectancies become longer, consumption on pharmaceuticals tends to increase every year, travelling further distances than before. This requires tight and stable cold chain which would allow delivering the product carrying its necessary value in good condition. Logistics in this field requires additional stages, unlikely typical logistics guidelines.And it is somewhat true that due to these unique characteristics of the market, not many companies can provide the services. In order to expand its market following its global demand, it will definitely require development in cold chain, especially in emerging markets. This paper, hence, is to explore cold chain process in delivering temperature sensitive pharmaceutical products in general, and advise some implications on further developments in near future.
