
A Study on the Suggestion of Service Korean Elderly's Life Satisfaction

Purpose – This study investigated effects of the elderly's social participation upon life satisfaction to suggest social services of the elderly's participation in the society. Research design, data, and methodology – In this study, primary investigation of "2007 aging research and research panel investigation" of not only Korea Labor Institute but also Ministry of Labor. SPSS was used. Multi-regression was done. Results – Variables between the elderly's participation in social activities and life satisfaction has significantly low relation. The elderly who were old to suffer from chronic disease and to have limitation on physical activity and to have high depression and to have poor subjective health and to participate in social activity less had low life satisfaction. The elderly having good cognition were satisfied with life. Conclusions – The elderly who was given national basic livelihood pension could be satisfied with life by physical activities rather than maintenance of livelihood. The elderly's social activities could lower depression to raise subjective health state and to increase life satisfaction. Satisfaction with life was influenced by national basic livelihood pension, children's support, ownership of housing to live in, educational level, subjective health state and social participation.
