노년교육학의 학문적 정체성 탐구

Identifying Disciplinary Identity of Educational Gerontology

본 연구는 새로운 분과학문으로서 노년교육학(Educational Gerontology)이 수립한 학문적 정체성의 정도를 파악하고, 보다 공고한 학문적 정체성을 수립하기 위해 필요한노력이 무엇인 지를 밝히는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 학문적 정체성을 내적 정체성(과학적 정체성, 경계 정체성)과 외적 정체성으로 구분하였다. 노년교육학의 내적 정체성을 파악하기 위해 「노년교육연구」과 「한국노년학」에 최근 6년 간 게재된 논문 98 편을 분석하였다. 그리고 외적 정체성을 파악하기 위해 한국노년교육학회의 주요 활동을 분석하였다. 과학적 정체성 영역에서 노년교육학은 고유한 탐구 대상과 다양한 연구방법을 갖고있지만, 고유한 이론체계 구축이 미흡하였다. 경계 정체성과 관련해서는 타 국가의 노년교육학과 차별점을 갖기 위한 연구가 조금씩 진행되었으며, 한국적 이론화 시도는부족하다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 그리고 외적 정체성 형성을 위해 비록 짧은 역사임에도 불구하고 한국노년교육학회가 다양한 활동을 수행했다는 것을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 앞으로 노년교육학이 새로운 분과학문으로서 공고히 자리매김하기 위해 개별 연구자 및 학술단체 차원에서 어떠한 노력이 필요한 지를 제안하였다.

This study aims to identify the degree of academic identity established by Educational Gerontology as a new discipline, and to reveal what efforts are necessary to establish a more solid academic identity in the field of Educational Gerontology. To this end, disciplinary identity was divided into internal identity (scientific and boundary identity) and external identity. In order to analyze the inner identity of Educational Gerontology, 98 research published in the last 6 years were analyzed in 「Korean Journal of Educational Gerontology」 and 「Journal of the Korean Gerontological Society」. In addition, the main activities of the 「Korean Society of Educational Gerontology」 were analyzed in order to ascertain the external identity. For the scientific identity, Educational Gerontology had its own subject of inquiry and used various research methods, but the establishment of its own theoretical system was insufficient. Regarding boundary identity, it was revealed that attempts to have own theoretical system developed by Korean researchers were insufficient. In addition, it was revealed that the 「Korean Society of Educational Gerontology」 has carried out various activities to form an external identity, even though it has a short history. Lastly, this study suggested what kind of efforts are needed at the level of individual researchers and academic organizations in order to establish a position as a new academic disciplinary.
