A Study on the Implementation Plan for Restorative Life Education: Focusing on Empathic Conflict Mediation based on Nonviolent Communication

회복적 생활교육을 효과적으로 구현하기 위해서는 그 주체인 교사, 학부모, 학생들의 일상적 실천과 협력이 관건이다. 결국 회복적 실천가를 어떻게 양성할 것인가 하는 문제와 직결된다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 2016~2020년 초등 혁신학교에서의 협력적 실행연구를 통해 갈등 조정 활동에 중점을 둔 회복적 생활교육 구현방안을 탐색하였다. 그 결과 마음챙김을 접목한 비폭력대화 중재 이론 및 훈련 모델을 기초로 하여 공감적 갈등 조정모델을 고안하였다. ‘안녕하게 회복하는 공감조정’으로 명명한 이 모델이 갖는 특징은 자기 내면의 갈등으로부터 시작하여 타자 간 갈등 조정까지 다루게 된다는 점이다. 조정자 자신도 당사자로서 내면의 갈등 조정으로 자기회복을 돕고, 동시에 다자 간 갈등도 공감하면서 평화롭게 조정하는 역량을 기르게 된다. 또한 조정 교육과 실천을 병행하는 교수학습 방식으로 실천적 지식을 키우게 된다. 이를 통해 학교 구성원 누구나 공감적 조정자가 되어 과정 상의 시행착오를 줄이면서 회복적 생활교육의 구현을 앞당길 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

In order to effectively implement restorative life education, the daily practice and cooperation of teachers, parents, and students are key. In the end, it is directly connected to the question of how to train recovery practitioners. Accordingly, in this study, through collaborative action research in innovative elementary schools from 2016 to 2020, a plan to implement restorative life education focused on conflict mediation activities was explored. As a result, an empathetic conflict mediation model was devised based on the NVC (Nonviolent Communication) mediation theory and training model that incorporates mindfulness. The characteristic of this model, which is called “empathic conflict adjustment to recover well,” is that it starts with the conflict within oneself and deals with conflict adjustment between others. The mediator himself, as a party, helps self-recovery through inner conflict mediation, and at the same time develops the ability to peacefully mediate while empathizing with multilateral conflicts. In addition, practical knowledge is nurtured through a teaching-learning method that combines coordinated education and practice. Through this, it is expected that any member of the school can become an empathetic coordinator, reducing trial and error in the process, and speeding up the realization of restorative life education.
