AI 챗봇을 도입한 초등학교 영어 디지털 교과서 활용 수업의 정의적 효과

Affective Effects of English Digital Textbook Lessons Using AI Chatbots

목적 본 연구는 영어 디지털 교과서에서는 제공하지 않는 상호작용 기술을 가진 AI 챗봇을 도입한 수업을 하며 초등학교 학생들의 영어 자신감 및 의사소통의지(WTC)의 변화, AI 활용 영어 학습이 학습자의 인식에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 데에 그 목적이 있다.방법 연구 대상은 초등학교에 재학 중인 4학년 학생들이며 2020년 10월~11월, 총 8회에 걸쳐 AI 챗봇을 활용하여 수업을 한 후 자신감 및 WTC 설문지, 사후 설문지를 수집하여 분석하였다. WTC 및 자신감은 구조화된 설문지를 바탕으로 결과를 분석하였고, AI 활용 영어 학습이 학습자의 인식에 미치는 영향은 사후 설문지를 통해 분석하였다.결과 본 연구 결과 AI 챗봇을 활용한 영어 수업이 초등학생의 영어 자신감 및 의사소통의지(WTC)의 향상에 도움을 주었다. 또한 사후 설문에서 AI 챗봇을 활용한 수업에 긍정적인 답변 및 지속적인 이용을 희망하는 학생들이 많았다.결론 이러한 연구 결과는 영어 디지털 교과서에 AI 챗봇을 활용한 영어 수업의 확산으로 학습자의 영어 학습에 긍정적인 영향을 끼치는 초석이 될 수 있을 것이다.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of students English confidence, willingness to communicate (WTC) and effects of learners perception after the classes using AI chatbots in English digital textbook lessons. Methods 27 of 4th grade elementary school students participated in this study eights times from October to November. Self-confidence and WTC questionnaire, post-mortem survey were collected and analyzed. WTC and confidence analyzed the results based on structured survey, and the effects of learners perception was analyzed through a post-questionnaire. Results The results of this study helped elementary school students improve their English confidence and willingness to communicate (WTC) using AI chatbots lesson. In addition, there are many students who want positive answers and continuous use of classes using AI chatbots in post-mortem surveys. Conclusions The results of these studies could be a cornerstone for learners to have a positive impact on their English learning by spreading English classes using AI chatbots in English digital textbooks.
