수요와 공급의 불확실성이 서로 다른 환경에서 최적의 소싱 전략이 무엇인가에 대한 연구는 과거 문헌에서 거의 다루어지지 않았다. 이에 본 연구는 생산 및 공급사슬관리 분야에서 수요와 공급의 불확실성을 동시에 다루고 있는 대표적인 논문 중 하나인 Hau Lee 교수(2002)가 제시한 이론적 틀을 바탕으로 현재까지의 문헌자료를 근거로 수요공급의 불확실성하에서의 소싱전략모형을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 본 연구는 불확실성하의 소싱전략 모형에 대한 최초의 개념적 논문으로 차후 실존데이터를 통한 검증작업을 추후과제로 남겨놓고 있으며 환경에 따른 전략적 소싱의 형태, 즉 공급사 수의 선택(single/double vs. multiple suppliers) 및 공급사의 위치선정문제(on-shoring vs. off-shoring), 그리고 이 두 가지 결정이 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 이론적 틀을 구축하고자 한다.
Despite its practical importance, there is only little research on sourcing strategies under different levels of demand and supply uncertainties. This study extends the well-known 2x2 matrix of supply chain strategies under demand and supply uncertainty by Lee (2002) and proposes a research framework of analyzing the right sourcing strategies under demand and supply uncertainty. It provides an in-depth review of the relevant literature on strategic sourcing decisions particularly regarding single/double/a few versus multiple sourcing and off-shoring versus on-shoring given the demand and supply uncertainty matrix, along with the discussion of the methodology of conducting an empirical study.
