This study is a comparative analysis o the sound characteristics of low-priced and high-priced cable a simple studio recording experiment. I selected six electric guitar cables, of which five we low-priced and thus used widely by popular music students in a BA degree course, and one was high-priced. The six guitar cables were tested and compared in terms of two guitar tones: clean and drive tones. After recording a professional guitar player playing identical parts six times using each cable in a studio setting, the PAZ Analyzer results of the recorded wave files were compared and analyzed to determine whether each cable generates different frequency responses. The results indicated only negligible difference across the cables in the drive tone, while small difference higher frequency responses w found in the clean tone. However, in a blind test with two professional musicians, the high-priced cable was preferred. This simple experiment provides a meaningful stepping stone in the less-studied literature on instrumental cables, reinforcing the need for further research on systematic guideline for choosing instrumental cables.
