중동 난민을 바라보는 내부자적 시선

Insider Perspectives on Middle East Refugees: Documentary Films for Syrian Refugees

난민 문제에 대한 정치적 갈등과 반(反)난민 정서는 난민에 대한 특정한 이미지화와 함께 진행된다. 2011년 아랍 민주화 운동으로 촉발된 시리아 내전 및 난민과 관련한 다수의 다큐멘터리 영화들이 시리아 국내외에서 제작되었다. 본 연구는 영화적 운동 - 이미지가 인간의 사유를 자극한다는 들뢰즈의 인식 위에 시리아 내전과 난민의 양상이 관련 다큐멘터리 영화에서 재현된 방식을 살펴보고, 자기성찰을 통한 내부자적 시선으로 바라본 난민 스스로의 모습을 주제적·심리적으로 분석하고자 했다. 영화 <시멘트의 맛>과 <알레포의 하루>를 포함한 7개의 다큐멘터리 영화는 자기 성찰과 자기 투사의 거울로서 시리아 사태를 관찰하며 내부자적 시선으로 우리에게 끊임없이 사유함을 던져주며 기록과 기억 사이의 함의를 오가게 만든다. 또한, 전 세계를 향해 의도적 망각과 침묵을 깨고 시리아 사태에 대한 기억을 소환해 낼 것을 촉구하고 있다.

Political conflict and anti-refugee sentiment on the refugee issue lead to a specific imagining of refugees. After the civil war in Syria, sparked by the 2011 Arab Spring, a number of documentary films related to the Syrian crisis and refugees have been produced both in and outside Syria.Based on Deleuze s perception that the cinematic movement-image stimulates human thinking, this study examines the aspects of Syrian Civil War and refugees which are reproduced in documentary films and attempts to reflect them through insider perspectives. Seven documentary films, including the films ”Taste of Cement” and ”One Day in Aleppo”, observe the situation in Syria as a mirror of self-reflection and self-projection. With insider perspectives these movies constantly force us to think and make us explore the implications between records and memories. The movies also urge the world to break through intentional oblivion and silence and recall memories of the Syrian crisis.
