The purpose of this study was to analyze the causal relationship between variables affecting the perception of stress in middle school and high school students by analyzing each variables and setting up research hypotheses and research model based on the relationship among the variables. The analysis used data from the source database of The 14th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey as analysis data. The target of analysis was 60,040 male and female middle school and high school students enrolled from the first grade of junior high school to the third grade of high school by 2018. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS / WIN 19.0 and Mplus 7.0 programs, and descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and path analysis were conducted. As a result of hypothesis testing, hypothesis 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 were supported, hypotheses 1 and 3 were not supported. The results based on supported hypotheses were as follows. First, the internet use time of middle school and high school students had a negative effect on the body mass index(BMI), and the consumption of sweet drinks and fast food had a positive effect on BMI. Second, the internet use time of middle school and high school students had a positive effect on the perception of stress, and the BMI had a negative influence on the perception of stress. Third, the internet use time of middle school and high school students, sweet drink intake, and fast food intake indirectly affected the perception of stress through the BMI. Internet use time had a positive effect on the perception of stress through mediation of BMI. Sweet drinks and fast food intake had negative effects on the perception of stress through mediation of BMI.
