“그러나 나 때문에 넘어지지 않는 자는 복이 있다”

“καὶ μακάριός ἐστιν ὃς ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί”: A Study of the σκάδαλον in the Q Gospel

이 글은 가장 오래된 예수 전승을 담고 있는 예수 말씀 복음서 Q가 스칸달론의 문제를 어떻게 이해하고 있는지 고찰하고자 한다. Q복음서에서 스칸달론 관련 어휘는 두 곳의 본문(Q 7:23; Q 17:1-2)에서 나타난다. 출현 빈도가 높지 않기 때문에 Q에서 마태복음서(13회)나 마가복음서(8회)에서 보는 바와 같이 스칸달론에 대한 발전된 논의를 발견하기는 어렵다. 그러나 Q에는 스칸달론 전승의 가장 원초적인 측면이 간직되어 있다. 즉 복음서에서 확장되고 발전되기 이전의 원래의 모습이 남아 있다. 그래서 이 글에서는 예수의 육성에 가까운 Q의 말씀에서 원시 기독교에서 실족이 어떻게 사유되고 있었는지를 되돌아보고, 오늘날 실족의 문제 해결의 단초를 찾아보고자 한다. Q복음서의 스칸달론에 대한 논의는 스칸달론에 대해서 많은 것을 알려주고 있다. 특히 Q복음서는 스칸달론이 예수를 따르고 믿는 길에 있어서 발생할 가능성이 있는 일이며 심지어 필연적이라는 사실을 알려준다. 예수 자신이 따름과 믿음의 대상이 될 수도 있지만 그 제자/신자를 실족시킬 수 있는 그러한 존재이기 때문이다. 예수의 길을 따르는 자 누구도 스칸달론으로부터 자유로울 수 없다. 또한 공동체 내부의 작은 자들, 즉 가난한 자들, 사회적 약자들, 사회적 소수자들은 스칸달론에 더욱 취약하며, 이 작은 자들을 실족하게 하는 자들에게는 무서운 형벌이 준비되어 있다. Q복음서는 이들을 실족시키지 않으려고 더욱 세심하게 다가가야 함을 가르친다.

This essay examines how the Q Gospel of Jesus, which contains the oldest Jesus tradition, understands the problem of σκάδαλον. In the Q Gospels the σκάδαλον related vocabulary appears in two texts (Q7: 23; Q17: 1-2). Since the frequency of occurrence is not high, it is difficult to find an advanced discussion of σκάδαλον in Q as seen in Matthew (13 times) or Mark (8 times). But Q has the most primitive aspect of the σκάδαλον tradition. So, in this article, I would like to look back on how the σκάδαλον in primitive Christianity was being questioned in the Q. The Q Gospel tells us that σκάδαλον is a possible and even inevitable way to follow and believe in Jesus. No one who follows Jesus path can be free from σκάδαλον. In addition, the little ones within the community, the poor, the socially weak, the social minorities, are more vulnerable to σκάδαλον, and there is a terrible punishment for those who stumble upon these little ones. The Q Gospel teaches that we should approach more carefully so as not to stumble upon them.
