Gender Difference in Victimization Affecting Severity of Delinquency

이 연구는 범죄 피해가 비행의 심각성에 미치는 영향의 성차를 고찰하는 것이다. 피해자-가해자 중첩에 관한 시각들에 기반을 두고, 이 연구에서는 다음과 같은 가정을 하였다. 범죄 피해 경험과 비행은 관련성을 가지고 있을 것이다. 범죄 피해 경험과 비행의 관련성은 성별에 따라 차이를 보일 것이다. 범죄 피해 경험이 비행의 심각성에 미치는 과정은 일상 활동/생활양식 이론, 문화 일탈 이론, 자아 통제 이론의 요인들로 설명할 수 있을 것이다. 범죄 피해 경험이 비행의 심각성에 미치는 과정은 성별에 따라 차이를 보일 것이다. 이와 같은 가설을 검증하기 위해 수강명령, 보호관찰, 소년원, 소년교도소에 있는 청소년을 대상으로 한 설문조사 자료를 이용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 비행을 저지른 청소년들은 다양한 유형의 범죄 피해를 경험하고 있다. 비행을 저지른 청소년들의 범죄 피해 경험의 성차는 범죄 유형에 따라 차이가 있다. 피해 경험이 비행의 심각성에 미치는 과정에서 영향을 주는 요인은 일탈적 생활양식, 비행에 대한 우호적인 태도이다. 범죄 피해 경험은 비행의 심각성을 증가시킨다. 범죄 피해경험이 비행의 심각성에 미치는 영향은 성별에 따라 차이가 있다.

This study examines gender difference in victimization affecting severity of delinquency. Based on the perspectives of the victim-offending overlap, this study hypothesizes that victimization is associated with delinquency; the relationship between victimization and delinquency can vary by gender; the process of victimization affecting severity of delinquency can be explained by the factors related to routine activity/lifestyle theories, cultural deviance theories and self-control theory; the process of victimization affecting severity of delinquency can vary by gender. Survey data from juveniles in attendance a lecture order, probation, juvenile detention facilities, and juvenile prisons are used to test the hypotheses. The results show that juvenile offenders suffer the different types of victimization; gender difference of victimization varies by the types of crime; the factors of victimization affecting severity of delinquency are deviant lifestyle and favorable attitude toward delinquency; victimization increases severity of delinquency; victimization affecting severity of delinquency varies by gender.
