Detection of Escherichia coli Enterotoxin by Use of the Reversed Passive Latex Agglutination and the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay

The detection of heat -labile enterotoxin and heat-stable enterotoxin of Escherichia coli isolated from fecal specimens of diarrheal piglets, and also standard E. coli were performed from 1993 to 1997 in Chonnam area. The detection of pathogenic E. coli enterotoxin by use of the reversed passive la- tex agglutination and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay appeared as positive for both LT⁺ and ST⁺ in one strain(2.1%) and positive for ST⁺ in three strains(6.4%) among 47 strains isolated from fecal specimens of diarrheal piglets. And then, the detection of standard E. coli enterotoxin by use of the RPLA and the ELISA were identified as positive for both LT⁺ and ST⁺ of two strains in B2C and JEC4 strains, LT⁺ of one strain in H10407 strains, and ST⁺ of two strains in JECl, JEC2, and JEC3 strains among 13 standard strains.
