The purposes of this experimental study were to investigate concentrations variations of the PM₁₀ and various inorganic elements in it, and relation of those with climate factors in the local ambient air. To perform the study, the total of 90 PM₁₀ samples were collected from Feburary, 1998 to December, 1998 in Kunsan. Each sample was analyzed by an atomic absorption spectrometry(AAS) to determine the level of the 5 inorganic elements; Zn, Cd, Cr, Fe and Pb. As results, the concentrations of PM₁₀ and each element were extensively investigated. The resulting seasonal concentrations of PM₁₀ in Kunsan were estimated by ranges of 56.2-71.2 μg/㎥, and some elements were estimated by arithmatic mean± standard error of 88.2±9.3 ng/㎥ for Zn, 5.4±0.6 ng/㎥ for Cd, 103.5± 10.9 ng/㎥ for Cr, 1005.2 ± 106.0 ng/㎥ for Fe and 75.7 ± 8.0 ng/㎥ for Pb respectively. The reduction of Pb values were caused by the changes in atmospheric stability that occurred during the seasonal transition periods. And when the cloud mass was increased, the concentration of PM₁₀ was reduced(r=-0.246, p<0.05).
