The aim of this research is to explore Walter Benjamin s translation philosophy which contains a fundamental philosophical reflection on the nature of language and translation. It examines the practical applicability of this topic, and also suggests the qualities that translators should possess. Benjamin s ideas on translation have been discussed bymany researchers, but his thoughts are abstract and esoteric, making it difficult to gauge the depth of themeasily. In order to properly understand Benjamin s theory of translation, sufficient research to reveal the interrelationships of the pivotal theoretical links of his thought must be preceded. Also to improve the understanding of Benjamin s translation theory, it is necessary to shed light on the fact that his translation theory is closely linked with various epistemologies such as mimesis, historical recognition and allegorical thinking, and pure language based on language theory.
