This paper focuses on both Kim s and McCann s translated sijos by analyzing and comparing each based on Bly s translational procedures. Bly suggests eight steps of translating German poems to English. According to Bly’s steps, Kim s and McCann s translationed sijos show distinct characteristics. First, Kim used long, complex sentences, while McCann preferred simple, short ones with adverbial or nominal phrases. Kim’s translated sijos are less colloquial than that of McCann’s. Second, Kim expressed linguistic characteristics of Hangeul, and the Korean cultural atmosphere contained in sijos, but MaCann utilized them sparingly. Last, Kimpaid little attention to the tones of sijos unlikeMcCann s keen touch of sound.
