국내 XBRL 공시현황 및 시사점

A Study on the Korea XBRL Filing Quality: Focusing on the XBRL Items and Labels

[연구목적]본 연구는 재무정보의 전자적 교환 및 사용을 촉진하는 XBRL의 최근 공시현황을 분석하고 추가적인 개선방안을 제안하였다. 이를 통해 국내 XBRL의 품질수준 향상과 이에 따른 XBRL 이용 활성화를 목적으로 한다. [연구방법]선행연구 바탕으로 국내 상장사의 2020년 사업연도 XBRL 공시사항을 각 XBRL 요소(표준 아이템, 확장 아이템, 표시 레이블 등)에 따라 분석하였다. 국내 표준 XBRL 텍사노미를 기준으로 공시된 XBRL의 품질을 평가하였다. [연구결과]기존 연구에서 분석하지 않았던 표준 아이템의 표시 레이블 변형 사례를 분석한 결과, 표준 아이템의 표시 레이블을 과도하게 변경한 사례가 다수 발견되었다. 또한 최근 향상된 국내 XBRL 품질 수준을 바탕으로 수월하게 표준화를 유도할 수 있는 사례를 문서화 하였다. [연구의 시사점]2017년을 기점으로 국내 XBRL의 품질수준은 대폭 향상되었으나, 그 이후 추가적인 개선은 정체되어 있으며, XBRL의 활용사례 또한 적은 상황이다. 본 연구는 국내 XBRL의 추가적인 품질향상 방안을 제안하였다. 또한 미국의 최근 XBRL 주요 동향인 inline XBRL 도입 사례를 소개하고 국내 도입과 관련된 시사점을 논의하였다. 이를 통해 국내 XBRL의 품질 수준 향상 및 이용 활성화에 기여하고자 하였다.

[Purpose]This study analyzes the quality of the current Korea XBRL filings, and provides proposals for enhancing the XBRL filing quality. The usage of the Korea XBRL filings can be facilitated by implementing these proposals. [Methodology]This study examines the each component of the XBRL filings (i.e., standard item, extension items, labels). This paper analyzes Korea XBRL filings from the annual reports of the fiscal year 2020. [Findings]Based on the K－IFRS XBRL taxonomy, this study documents the deviations in the XBRL filings from the standard XBRL taxonomy. This study found that XBRL labels were modified improperly with the standard XBRL items. This paper also finds an opportunity of enhancing the XBRL quality by providing the recently enhanced XBRL filing cases. [Implications]The quality of the XBRL filings in Korea was significantly improved in the year 2017. However, the XBRL filings are not frequently used and there is still room for the improvements. This study provides proposals in order to fill this gap and improve the quality of the XBRL filing. In addition, this study introduces the inline XBRL filing, which can be adopted in the XBRL notes filings.
