본 연구는 중복·지체부자유아 교육의 최근 동향을 Bowe, F.의 개론서를 중심으로 알아보는데 목적이 있었다. 연구의 결과와 논의를 통해 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중복·지체부자유아 교육에서 관계 전문가의 협력은 반드시 필요한 것이다. 둘째, 중복·지체부자유아 교육의 전문가들에게는 자신감과 감수성, 현장 경험 혹은 직접 경험이 중요하다. 셋째, 직접 경험 외에도 전문가들은 신문, 방송, 잡지, 문학 작품 등을 통한 간접 경험이 중요하다. 넷째, 중복·지체부자유아 교육과 훈련의 기초가 되는 용어의 정의, 건강 장애, 패러다임 이동, 장애와 장벽에 대처하는 법률, 서비스 제공, 범주, 환경 등에 대한 소개는 인상적이다.

The Purpose of this study was to investigate on the most recent trend of the individual with physical and multiple disabilities education in the Bowe s : an introduction book. The results of this study were as follows; First, a theme of this book is that regular and special educators meed to collaborate with one another and work hand in hand with therapists and counselors. Such team-work is a hallmark of today s leading edge program serving children, youth, and adults with physical disabilities or health impairments. Second, as a professor preparing special educators and rehabilition counselors, I have long struggled with the problem of how to help my graduate students to acquire at least some of the knowledge and skills that I have learned over the years so that they become both competent and sensitive in teaching people with physical or health conditions. Third, as supplements to these kind of firsthand experiences, the education of physical and multiple disabilities need to a lot by reading what adults with disabilities have written, including articles in such taboids as The Ragged Edge. Finally, firsthand experiences convince physical and multiple disabilities that what really matters is a person s strengths, creativity, education, and training, with which people can surmount the limitations that disabilities impose.
