뇌성마비 아동 어머니의 자녀 양육 경험 분석

An Analysis of Child-Rearing Experience among Mothers of Children with Cerebral Palsy

본 연구에서는 뇌성마비 아동 어머니의 자녀 양육 경험을 질적 연구방법 중의 하나인 근거이론 접근방법에 따라 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 7세-11세의 뇌성마비 아동 어머니 5명으로 35세-42세의 대학졸업 이상의 학력을 가지고 있었다. 연구대상과의 심층면담을 통하여 자료를 수집한 뒤 면담 내용을 모두 전사하고 개방적 표본 추출 방식에 따라 가능한 다양한 개념과 범주를 찾는 데 주력하였다. 연구결과 뇌성마비 아동 어머니의 자녀 양육과 관련된 모든 경험이 중심현상인“버거움”을 중심축으로 전개되는 것으로 나타났다. 중심현상을 생성시키는 인과적 조건은“발달지체”,“막막함”,“두려움”에 의한“절망감”이었으며, 중심현상의 강도에 영향을 주는 환경적 요소인 맥락으로는“사회적 시선”,“경제 상태”, “교육수혜 여건”이 작용하였다. 중심현상의 해결에 영향을 미치는 중재상황에는 “지지체계”,“성격 양상”,“교육 효과”,“종교적 승화”가 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 중심현상을 해결하기 위한 전략으로는“수용”,“회피”,“거부”를 사용하며, 그에 따른 결과는 “당당”,“위축”,“포기”로 분석되었다.

The purpose of this study was to examine what kind of core phenomenon appeared in the child-rearing experience of mothers with cerebral-palsied children and how they responded to that. The subjects in this study were five mothers with cerebral-palsied children. After interview them was recorded, it was transcribed. The interview data were analyzed by the ground theory analysis method of Strauss and Corbin. The findings of this study were as follows: First, according to the analysis of the data, there were 282 concepts including sleeplessness, pain and feeling sorry. Those subcategories were classified into 34, involving abnormal behavior, developmental delay and anguish, and those categories were classified into 19 categories, which contained developmental delay, being gloomy, fear, being conscious of social perception, economic status and educational conditions. Second, as for the core phenomenon during their child rearing, mothers felt it was beyond their capacity to bring up their children, and the causal condition that affected that phenomenon was despair . As a context social perception , economic status and educational conditions had an impact on their despair. The interventions that made an influence on their coping with the core phenomenon were support system , personality , education effect and religious sublimation . They responded to the core phenomenon by employing receptive , avoidance or rejective strategies, and those strategies made them take a pride , or withdraw or give up . Third, when a paradigm model was applied, the mothers with cerebral- palsied children were classified into four types according to the degree of the core phenomenon, being conscious of social perception, economic status, educational conditions, support system, personality traits, education effect and religious sublimation. The mothers of type 1 felt that it was beyond their capacity to bring up their children. They were conscious of people s way of looking at their children and financially troubled. Their educational condition wasn t good, and their support system was inadequate. As for personality traits, they were dependent and didn t educate their children in an efficient manner. Those who sublimed their experience through religion became intimidated due to the use of avoidance strategy. The mothers of type 2 didn t find it so elusive to raise their children, and they weren t concerned about people s way of looking at their children, either. They were in good financial status, and their educational conditions were good as well. Their support system was enough, and regarding personality traits, they were independent. Those who sublimed their experience through religion lived their lives without being intimidated, thanks to the use of a receptive strategy. The mothers of type 3 felt that it was beyond their control to raise their children. They were concerned about people s way of seeing their children. Their economic status and educational conditions weren t good, and their support system was insufficient. Concerning personality, however, they were independent and taught their children efficiently. Those who sublimed their experience through religion became more open and impressive by using a receptive strategy. The mothers of type 4 found it elusive to raise their children, and were conscious of people s perception about their children. Their economic status and educational conditions weren t good. As to personality traits, they were dependent and taught their children in an inefficient manner. Those who didn t sublime their experience through religion became intimidated or gave up due to the use of an avoidance strategy, even though their support system was sufficient.
