This study aims to illuminate the effect of sensory integration training on the sense of vestibular and the function of proprioceptive sensibility of children with developmental disorder. The object of the study was selected from the children with developmental disorder belonging to the disabled nursery located in Kyeong-puk. The sensory integration training used for this study was developed by the author of this study on the basis of the program that was suggested by Ayres(1985) and Panbon(1990). The program was conducted 5 times a week, for a total of 39 sessions of 50-minute class each time. To find out the effect of the sensory integration training and the improvement in sensory function, the examinations of the vestibular sensory response test, proprioceptive sensory response test, postrotary nystagmus test, Cybex770 isokinetic test, QEMG8 electromyography were used. By such methods of research, the sensory functions changed including lower rate of the insensible response, longer time of continued nystagmus and changes in electromyogram for the object children. On the basis of such data, the conclusions for the effects of sensory integration training on the sensory function of children with developmental disorder were made as follows. Firstly, the sensory integration training was effective for the improvement of the insensible response of the sense of vestibular for children with developmental disorder, and the level was progressed to the form of normal sensory function. Secondly, the sensory integration training was effective for the improvement of the insensible response of the function of proprioceptive sensibility for children with developmental disorder, and the level was progressed to the form of normal sensory function.
