초임 지체장애 초등특수교사의 교직 적응 경험

The Adaptation Experiences of Newly Appointed Elementary Special Education Teachers with Physical Disabilities in Teaching Profession

연구목적: 본 연구는 지체장애를 가진 초임 초등특수교사가 교직에 어떻게 적응하는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구방법: 본 연구는 초등특수교사로 임용되어 배치된 장애인 교사 중, 경력이 5년 이하인 초임 지체장애인 교사 3명을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 초임 지체장애 초등특수교사와의 면담을 통하여 질적인 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구결과: 초임 지체장애 초등특수교사는 장애로 인해 교직 적응에서 힘들고 어려운 과정을 감내해야 하는 부분도 있었지만, 자신의 장점을 적극 활용하고 인정받는 과정에서 교사로서의 만족감과 성취감을 느끼며 교직에 적응하고 있었다. 논의 및 결론: 초임 지체장애 초등특수교사가 교직 생활에 보다 긍정적인 적응을 할 수 있도록 행·재정적인 지원이 이루어져야 한다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the difficulties of the teaching profession and efforts to adapt to the teaching profession through the experiences of newly appointed special education teachers with physical disabilities. Method: The study conducted in-depth interviews with three newly appointed special education teachers with physical disabilities. Results: The experiences of adapting to the teaching profession of newly appointed special education teachers with physical disabilities were explained in three categories. First, the newly appointed special education teachers had difficulties in their teaching profession lives due to their disabilities. Second, the newly appointed special education teachers put huge efforts in adapting to the teaching profession. Third, the newly appointed special education teachers utilized their disabilities in positive ways to adapt to the teaching profession. Conclusion: It is necessary to provide diverse support for the newly appointed special education teachers in order to adapt to the teaching profession.
