안정복의 『대록지』 보론

Supplementary Study on Ahn Jeong-bok’s Daerokji

필자는 1987년에 목천의 읍지인 안정복의 『대록지』에 대해서 관심을 가져본 바가 있었다. 안정복의 학문에서 『동사강목』과 같은 역사저술만이 아니라, 『대 록지』와 같은 읍지도 매우 중요하다는 사실을 강조하였다. 이후 안정복에 대해 서 계속적으로 나온 연구성과들은 그의 읍지 편찬에 대한 몇 가지 문제를 새롭 게 검토하게 만들었다. 이를 통해서 안정복의 읍지 편찬에서도 성호학파의 학문적 영향이 크게 미쳤 음을 확인해볼 수 있었다. 그리고 읍지를 통해서 초기 백제사에 대한 그의 새로 운 이해 또한 살펴볼 수가 있었다. 더 나아가 그의 유교사상을 바탕으로 하는 절 의론이 국사 편찬과 마찬가지로 읍지 편찬에서도 크게 반영되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 무엇보다 『대록지』를 지리서로서 단순하게 파악하기보다는, 역사서로서 구 체적으로 접근하는 것이 올바른 방향임을 말하고자 하였다. 안정복에게 국가의 역사서인 『동사강목』와 지방의 역사서인 『대록지』는 서로 맞물리면서 편찬되 었기 때문이다. 그렇다면 안정복은 중앙의 역사만이 아니라 지방의 역사도 중 요하다는 사실을 크게 강조한 역사가로 이해해야 할 것으로 생각한다.

In 1987, the present writer was interested in Ahn Jeong-bok’s 『Daerokji』, which is the history of Eupjia about Mokcheon. In his study, Ahn Jeong-bok emphasized the importance of not only historical writings like 『Dongsagangmok』, but also of Eupji like 『Daerokji』. Since then, the results from following studies on Ahn Jeong- bok brought several issues regarding his compilation of Eupji to attention. Through this, it was possible to confirm that the academic influence of the Seongho School had greatly affected Ahn Jeong-bok in his compilation of Eupji. And through Eupji, his new perspective on the history of the early Baekje was examined. Furthermore, it can be seen that his political fidelity based on Confucian ideology was largely reflected in the compilation of Eupji as in the compilation of national history. Above all, it can be said that the proper way of understanding 『Daerokji』 is to comprehend it as a history book, rather than simply grasping it as a geography book. This is because, for Ahn Jeong-bok, the national history book, 『Dongsa Gangmok』, and the regional history book, 『Daerokji』, were closely intertwined in the compilation. Then, Ahn Jeong-bok should be understood as a historian who greatly emphasized the fact that not just the history of the center but the history of the regions is also important.
