건강장애학생의 교육실태 및 학부모의 인식

A Study on the Actual Conditions of Educations about Students with Health Impairments and Parents Perception

본 연구는 양적으로 증가하고 있는 건강장애학생 교육의 시대적 현실을 반영하여 건강장애학생의 교육 실태 및 인식을 조사하여, 건강장애학생 교육이 그들이 가진 다양한 교육적 요구와 치료 상황에 따른 환경적 요구를 반영해야 함을 밝히고자 하였다. 이에 전국 교육청 소속 16개 병원학교와 1개의 화상강의 운영 기관을 이용하고 있는 건강장애학생의 학부모를 대상으로 설문지법을 이용하여 자녀의 교육 실태 및 건강장애학생 교육에 대한 인식에 대해 조사하고, 통계적 기법을 이용하여 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 주된 결론을 얻었다. 건강장애학생은 치료 상황에 따라 한 개 이상의 기관으로부터 교육을 받고 있어 각 교육기관 간 연계를 통해 학생들에게 일관성 있는 교육을 제공되도록 노력해야 한다. 또한 소속 학교에 부분 혹은 전부 참여하는 학생들을 위한 학교생활 지원이 필요한데 특히 특정교과에서 배제되는 일이 없도록 대체 학습을 제공할 것과 진급 시 친구관계를 고려한 반 편성 및 평가와 관련된 부분에서의 배려가 필요할 것으로 보인다. 한편, 학부모의 교육적 요구 반영 및 학부모 상담의 기회가 보다 확대되어야 할 것이며 건강장애학생의 학교복귀를 위해 소속 학교의 교사의 인식 개선 및 학급 친구들의 건강장애 이해교육을 통한 학생들 간의 교류 활성화가 필요할 것이다. 마지막으로 건강장애학생 교육 시 치료 상황에 따른 병원, 가정, 학교로의 공간적 전환에 대한 독특한 교육적 요구를 반영하여 이에 맞는 교육지원이 이루어져야 한다.

The Special Educations Promotions Act Amenements of 2005 has included health impairments as a independent special education category. Since than, specialized support was offered to students with chronic illnesses, who had experienced history of grade retention, academic achievement delays, and difficult peer relations due to long-term absenteeism. This study analyzes the actual condition of education and educational system for students with health impairments. The educational system includes curriculum, educational activities and supports, and connection system of education. To achieve this purpose, the survey was performed to 121 parents of students with health impairment. The responds from parents shows the necessity of supports in students life when the students returning to the original school. Especially, this study implies the importance of class arrangement with considering the classmate relationships when advancing to higher grades. This study also shows that parents wish to provide returning students with alternative classes for preventing them from exclusion of specific curriculum. And parents indicates that the educational institutions should have more concerns on the needs of students with health impairments, especially in the part of advance, promotion, and evaluation. Finally, this study shows that education for students with health impairments should reflect specific educational demands for the spatial switch from hospital, house to school or other ways according to treatment conditions and establish appropriate educational supports system with concerning the spatial transfer.
