도서관에서 제공하는 지체장애인 대상의 교육 및 문화 프로그램에 대한 이용 실태 및 욕구 조사

A Survey of Current Status and Needs of Library-based Education and Cultural programs for Students with physical disability

지체장애인의 도서관 교육 및 문화 프로그램 참여 욕구에도 불구하고 지체장애인을 위해 도서관에서 실시하는 교육 및 문화 프로그램은 거의 없는 것이 현실이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 지체장애인의 도서관 이용 활성화를 위하여 현재 지체장애인의 도서관 이용 관련 실태 및 욕구는 어떠한지 살펴봄과 동시에 지체장애인의 도서관 교육 및 문화 프로그램 관련 실태를 조사·분석하고, 지체장애인 당사자의 욕구를 파악하여 국내 공공도서관 현장에서 지체장애인이 실제 참여할 수 있는 도서관 교육 및 문화 프로그램 개발에 대한 정보를 제공하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 절차와 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 총 15개소의 자립생활센터 이용자 125명이 연구에 참여하였고, 이들은 도서관 교육 및 문화 프로그램 참여의 어려움과 다양하고 구체적인 도서관 교육 및 문화 프로그램에 대한 욕구를 보고하였다. 본 연구는 지체장애인의 도서관 이용 활성화를 위한 교육 및 문화 프로그램 개발과 관련한 기초연구로서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있으며, 본 연구에서 도출된 주요결과는 지체장애인의 도서관 이용 활성화를 위한 방안 수립에 적극적으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Most of people with physical disabilities have needs to participate in the library education and cultural programs. Despite the needs for library education and cultural programs for these people, few has been developed for the people with physical disabilities yet in Korea. The purpose of this study is to survey the current status and needs of library education and cultural programs for these people in a national level. The procedures and results of this research are as follows. A survey tool was developed via in-depth literature review and multiple discussion/revision within the researchers and professor of library. Then survey was conducted to obtain information regarding current status and needs of library education and cultural programs. Total of 125 users of center for independent living participated in this survey from 15 centers for independent living for the people with physical disabilities. Most of the respondents reported their difficulties in participating in the library education and cultural programs. Also various specific needs for library education and cultural programs were reported. The most important implication of this study includes that the need for theoretical and practical library education and cultural programs and strategies and support measures that may help people with physical disabilities. We expect that this research can serve as a basis for further effort to develop library education and cultural programs suited for the unique needs of people with physical disabilities.
