재택순회교육 대상 학생의 성인기로의 전환에 대한 어머니의 기대

Mother s Expectation on Transition to Adulthood for Children of Itinerant Special Education

이 연구는 고등학교 재택순회교육 대상 학생의 성인기로의 전환에 대한 어머니의 기대를 알아보고자 서울특별시 소재 특수학교 2개교의 고등학교 재택순회학급에 재학 중인 학생의 어머니 5명을 연구대상으로 하여, 반 구조화된 면담을 통하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과 자녀의 성인기 삶의 모습과 관련하여 어머니들은 주로 행동문제 소거 및 감소, 건강한 삶, 부모와 계속 함께 살기, 성인기에도 계속 치료 받기, 산책 등의 지역사회 생활 참여, 의미 있는 여가활동 참여 등을 기대하였다. 재택순회교사에게 기대하는 지원으로는 자녀 교육과 관련하여 행동 수정, 자녀의 능력에 맞는 의사소통 교육, 생명·건강 유지를 위한 운동프로그램 제공, 치료교육, 산책 등의 지역사회 경험 제공, 여가 생활을 위한 흥미 발견 등이었다. 또, 부모교육 및 정보제공과 관련하여 자녀의 행동문제 수정과 관련된 부모교육과 성인기 시설 및 주간 보호 센터, 자녀의 진로 및 경제적 지원에 대한 정보제공을 기대하였다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 선행연구와의 관련성과 이 연구가 재택순회교육에 주는 시사점을 논의하였다.

This study investigated mothers expectations for the transition to adulthood among the high school students receiving itinerant special education. The subjects were five mothers with a high school child attending the itinerant special education class at two special schools in Seoul. Data were collected with a qualitative research method based on semi-structured interviews. As a result, mothers usually expected elimination or reduction of problematic behavior, healthy life, continuance of living with the parents, continuance of treatment in adulthood, participation in community life such as taking a walk, and participation in meaningful leisure activities in relation to the aspects of adult life for their children. They expected behavior correction, communication education fit for children s abilities, exercise programs for life and health maintenance, treatment education, community experiences such as taking a walk, and discovery of interest in leisure activities with regard to child education for supports from itinerant special education teachers. They expected parent education related to the revision of children s problematic behavior, adult welfare facilities and adult daycare centers, and information about children s careers and economic supports with regard to parent education and information provision. The findings will provide basic information and implications for high quality fruitful itinerant special education so that the students receiving the education can prepare themselves for adult life well.
