Literature Review on Support Programs for Siblings of Children with Disabilities

본 연구는 장애아동 형제의 지원프로그램에 관한 선행 연구를 분석함으로써, 이후 비장애형제의 긍정적 적응과 발달을 위한 지원 프로그램을 구성하는데 기초자료를 제공하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 구체적으로, 본 연구는 형제지원 프로그램이 제시된 학술지의 학문분야, 형제지원 프로그램에 참여한 참여자의 특성, 형제지원 프로그램의 수행 방법, 그리고 형제지원 프로그램의 구성에 대해 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 장애아동 형제지원 프로그램에 관한 연구 중 집단실험연구방법으로 수행된 학술지 논문으로 한정하였으며, 총 17편의 연구가 분석대상 논문으로 선정되었다. 연구 결과, 형제지원 프로그램에 참여하는 비장애형제는 초등학생의 경우가 가장 많았으며, 이들의 장애형제가 가진 장애는 주로 정신지체, 자폐성장애, 지체장애가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고, 형제지원 프로그램의 목적은 비장애형제의 스트레스나 심리적 어려움 감소, 비장애형제의 자아개념 향상, 장애형제에 대한 태도 향상, 비장애형제의 우울 감소, 비장애형제의 사회적지지 강화 등을 포함하였다.

The study analyzed the previous studies on support programs for siblings of children with disabilities, and the study was intended to provide resources to develope the future support programs for the siblings’ adaptation and development. In specific, the study investigated the academic area of the published articles including the articles about the support programs, the characteristics of the sibling participants, the implementing ways of the support programs, and the construct of the support programs. The study selected the 17 articles using group experimental design. In results of the study, most of the sibling participants of the support programs were the elementary school students, and the types of disability of the siblings with disabilities were mental retardation, autism spectrum disorders, and physical disabilities. As well, the purposes of the support programs included the decrease of psychological stresses or difficulties, the increase of self-concept, the improvement of attitude toward siblings with disabilities, the decrease of depression, and the strengthening of social support for siblings without disabilities.
